The Dubois County Advocacy for Recovery and Prevention Council (ARC), formerly the Substance Abuse Council, presented an update on its 2024 programs and grant disbursements at the Jan. 21 council meeting. ARC Treasurer Jenny Lampert and ARC Coordinator April Jones described annual funding divided into four categories: Prevention/Education, Treatment/Intervention, Criminal Justice Services and Discretionary.
Coordinator April Jones requested the appropriation of 2025 Drug Free Community funding in the amount of $49,699.01. The Council approved the appropriation on a motion by Ryan Craig, seconded by Meredith I. Voegerl; the motion carried unanimously. The appropriation was recorded in two parts: Personal Services $12,424.76 and Other Services (contracted services) $37,274.25.
Auditor Sandra L. Morton presented an amendment to the Salary Ordinance to set the ARC Coordinator’s pay at a $22.95 per hour maximum, with the position scheduled for 22 hours per month and up to six additional hours during grant periods. Deena J. Lewis moved to approve the amended ordinance, Sonya Haas seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Lampert and Jones noted the ARC meets monthly on the second Tuesday at the Jasper Public Library at 11:00 a.m. and invited public participation: "Everyone is invited to attend," the council noted.
The Council recorded these actions as formal appropriations and an amendment to the salary ordinance; implementation and payroll updates will be handled by Human Resources and ARC staff.
