Commissioners endorse Sternberg International truck quote pending MVH funding approval

Highway Engineer Brent Wendholt presented four Sourcewell quotes to replace County Truck #215 and recommended purchasing from Sternberg International for $181,228.94. The board voted to approve the quote contingent on additional MVH funding approval by the County Council.
Wendholt additionally asked the board for permission to seek an additional appropriation of $290,000 from the MVH fund; the commissioners gave consensus to pursue the appropriation request. The recorded vote on the vendor quote was carried unanimously by the commissioners present.
The quotes presented were: Sternberg International at $181,228.94; Ruxer Ford (Autocar) at $247,020.33 (could not provide Sourcewell pricing); Palmer – Kenworth of Evansville at $255,353.76; and Boyd Truck Sales (Western Star) at $235,874.00. Wendholt recommended Sternberg based on the Sourcewell quote and recommended timing to fit this year’s build schedule.
