Dubois County Council re-elects Kluesner as president, names Voegerl vice president; Councilor Ryan Craig to resign

The Dubois County Council re-elected Michael W. Kluesner as council president and chose Meredith I. Voegerl as vice-president at its Jan. 21 meeting in the Dubois County Annex.
Auditor Sandra L. Morton opened nominations for council president. Ryan Craig nominated Kluesner; with no further nominations the council closed nominations and unanimously elected Kluesner. Sonya Haas nominated Meredith Voegerl for vice-president; nominations were closed and Voegerl was unanimously elected.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the Dec. 29, 2025 minutes on a motion by Ryan Craig, seconded by Alex P. Hohl.
Later in the meeting Ryan Craig read a letter announcing his resignation from the County Council effective Feb. 22, 2026, following his selection as mayor of the City of Jasper, which he told the council begins April 1, 2026. The council said it will hold a caucus to select a successor to represent District 2.
Members present for the meeting included President Michael W. Kluesner, Sonya Haas, Alex P. Hohl, Ryan Craig, Meredith I. Voegerl and Auditor Sandra L. Morton; Board Member Deena J. Lewis was absent. Doug Uebelhor entered the meeting during the session.
The council confirmed the caucus and the timeline for filling the District 2 vacancy; no appointment was made at the Jan. 21 meeting.
The council adjourned at 6:01 p.m.
