Fulton County begins 2026 budget review; Human Services briefs commissioners on SNAP contingency planning

At 9:30 a.m. the Retirement Board also met and included Denny Koons of Raymond James to update signatory documents for the county's retirement administration. The budget review did not result in a final adopted budget; commissioners indicated the Nov. 18 meeting will be used to finalize details and proceed with public advertising if appropriate.
The board also heard an update from Executive Development Director Julie Dovey on contingency planning related to a potential federal government shutdown. Dovey said she has coordinated with the local Food Bank to ensure resources will be available for county residents who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits should federal services be disrupted. Commissioners entered and exited a personnel-related executive session tied to Human Services during the morning meeting; no personnel actions were reported in the minutes.
