Fulton County approves election-office security upgrades funded by 2024 HAVA grant

Fulton County Commissioners voted Dec. 9 to use money from a 2024 HAVA Elections Security Grant to install a keycard fob system and additional security cameras at county election facilities.
Voter Registration/Election Director Linda Doyle presented a TelePlus quote and described planned physical security upgrades; Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve the work. The board approved spending $3,000 from the HAVA grant to pay for a keycard fob installation for the Voter Registration/Election Office door and for Elect IT consultant Rick Grissinger to install separate cameras above the Commissioners' Office door and the Voter Registration/Election Office door.
The decision follows a review of grant-eligible security measures presented to the commissioners. Elect IT will perform camera installations and security wiring; TelePlus will provide the access-control equipment. The motion was recorded as approved unanimously by the three commissioners present.
The action is intended to bolster physical access controls at two county office entry points. No additional operating budget impacts or ongoing maintenance responsibilities were detailed in the meeting record; the TelePlus Protection System Extended Service Agreement for county coverage was approved elsewhere on the agenda for a separate amount and effective dates.
Next steps: county staff will execute the TelePlus quote and schedule Elect IT to complete camera installations under the HAVA grant funding.
