Calhoun County approves custodial contract extension, awards concessions bid and authorizes jail fencing change order

Calhoun County commissioners on Oct. 10 approved a series of contracts and procurement items, extending existing services and approving a change order for a county construction project.

County Administrator Jonathan Gaddy presented a resolution to extend the Courthouse Custodial Services contract with Made to Clean from Nov. 1, 2024, through Oct. 31, 2025, with no change to terms; the commission adopted the resolution by unanimous voice vote. The commission also awarded the Sports Complex/Woodland Park concessions bid to the sole bidder, Osborn Brothers, at negotiated prices.

Gaddy introduced an AIA Change Order for the ARPA-funded jail medical wing requesting $11,676.00 to provide fencing; the board authorized the chair to sign the agreement. Gaddy also presented a Traffic Enforcement Agreement with the North Central Alabama Highway Safety Office (Oct. 1, 2024–Sept. 30, 2025) to provide grant funding for overtime enforcement, and an Interpreter Service Agreement with the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind offering interpreting services to Probate Court at $65.00 per hour for the same term; the commission authorized the chair to sign both agreements unanimously.

Additionally, the commission declared a Savin copier assigned to the Probate Office surplus for recycling and accepted a resubdivision plat for RaceTrac Alexandria Gate 5 as compliant with county regulations. All motions related to these procurement and contract items passed unanimously.

The commission took these votes as part of its regular business and adjourned at 10:22 a.m.
