Calhoun County Commission approves multiple public-nuisance abatements, dismissals and invoice

The Calhoun County Commission on Oct. 24 approved a series of actions related to property code enforcement, including abatements, dismissals and an invoice for removal costs.

Environmental Programs Manager Kraig Mize presented lists of properties recommended for public-nuisance abatement and for dismissal. For abatement he identified eight properties in Anniston and Jacksonville, noting owners had been notified but no representatives were present; Commissioner Shears moved to adopt the abatements and Commissioner Wilson seconded. The commission carried the motion by unanimous voice vote.

Mize also recommended dismissing nuisance designations for eight other properties. Commissioner Patterson moved for dismissal, Commissioner Howell seconded, and the commission approved the dismissals unanimously.

Separately, Mize recommended approving an invoice of $6,776.00 for removal costs at 3519 Gurnee Avenue, Anniston (owner listed as Dominique Dupree). Commissioner Howell moved to approve the invoice and Commissioner Wilson seconded; the vote was unanimous.
