Calhoun County commission approves contracts, plats and a $64,518 federal EMPG grant

At its Aug. 8 meeting, the Calhoun County Commission unanimously approved a set of routine contractual and grant items, including a reciprocal exchange agreement with the Alabama Department of Revenue, authorization of a Microsoft 365 software agreement, a one-time jail detention equipment service call, acceptance of a $64,518 FY23 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) and approval of two resubdivision plats.
County Administrator Jonathan Gaddy presented the Alabama Department of Revenue reciprocal exchange agreement authorizing the county to receive confidential tax information; Commissioner Patterson moved to authorize the chair to sign once the agreement is finalized and Commissioner Howell seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The commission authorized the chair to sign a Microsoft 365 software agreement once finalized (motion by Commissioner Howell; second Commissioner Shears) and approved a one-time service agreement with Willo Product Company for jail detention equipment (motion by Commissioner Shears; second Commissioner Wilson). County Engineer recommendations led to acceptance of resubdivision plats for Eagle Point at Boiling Springs and Shadow Grass Phase 1; both were approved by unanimous voice vote.
Mr. Gaddy also presented the FY23 EMPG cooperative agreement showing a federal allocation of $64,518; Commissioner Wilson moved to authorize the chair to sign for and on behalf of Calhoun County, Commissioner Shears seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. The commission also approved a resolution to cancel the Aug. 22 meeting so commissioners may attend the ACCA Annual Convention.
