Calhoun County approves multiple contract extensions and awards, including $631,657 bridge project and ARPA parking work

The Calhoun County Commission on Sept. 12 adopted a string of contractor extensions and procurement awards, including a Rebuild Alabama bridge contract valued at $631,657.80 and an ARPA-funded parking project for Chief Ladiga Landing worth $174,441.63.
County Administrator Jonathan Gaddy presented multiple resolutions to the commission. The board extended the General Landscape Maintenance contract with Maddox Lawn Services (effective Sept. 1, 2023–Aug. 30, 2025), extended GPS monitoring services with American Electronic Monitoring (Oct. 1, 2024–Sept. 30, 2025), and extended the Sheriff Office Uniform contract with MAC Uniform (Sept. 28, 2024–Sept. 27, 2025). Each measure was adopted by unanimous voice vote.
The commission awarded the county herbicide bid to Red River Specialities, LLC effective Oct. 1, 2024–Sept. 30, 2025, and approved a Rebuild Alabama contract for the McClellan Road bridge replacement to The Bridge Builders of Alabama, LLC for a negotiated amount of $631,657.80. The board also awarded the ARPA Chief Ladiga Landing additional parking project to Hurst Construction, LLC for $174,441.63. Commissioner Howell specifically thanked County Engineer Rodney McCain for his work on current projects.
The commission approved multiple construction-related change orders: an AIA change order adding $12,379 to the ARPA jail renovation contract to cover change orders #23–#25, and a separate change extending substantial completion for the jail medical wing with Tindall Corporation Construction to Nov. 15, 2024. An additional AIA change order added $2,350 to Improvements to Ladiga Landing Chief Ladiga Trail. All measures were authorized by unanimous vote.
Other agreements authorized during the meeting included Jackson Thornton for arbitrage consulting and Building & Earth Engineers for construction materials testing and inspection services on the jail medical wing. The Commission entered the corresponding resolutions and contracts into the record.
