Calhoun County adopts routine resolutions: food contract extension, disposal rate change, mapping agreements and a $200,000 state grant

At its June 27 meeting the Calhoun County Commission unanimously adopted a slate of routine resolutions and agreements presented by county staff.
Jonathan Gaddy presented a resolution to extend the jail food bid with Flowers Baking Company of Birmingham and Osborn Foodservice with allowable item-price adjustments; the resolution was adopted by unanimous voice vote. Gaddy also presented the Resubdivision of Eagle Pass plat, which County Engineer review and Mr. Rodney McCain said met subdivision regulations; the Commission authorized acceptance and the Chairman's signature.
The Commission approved rate adjustments for Arrow Disposal Services, Inc., effective Oct. 1, 2024, as permitted under its contract. Arrow Disposal marketing manager Gentry Shows thanked the Commission after the vote. Commissioners also adopted an assumption and assignment resolution allowing Vulcan Materials Asphalt & Construction LLC to assume certain assets and liabilities from Whitaker Contracting Corporation and to carry out micro surfacing agreement duties.
The board authorized the Chairman to sign a $10,000 GIS ALDOT Digital Information Agreement (federal funds) to support 2024 photography and mapping work, with a required 20% local match, and approved a professional services agreement with G-Squared to implement Task Order #028 for historical orthophoto imagery. The Commission accepted a FY2023 supplemental legislative appropriation from ADECA of $200,000 to be used for the National Monument Park. The Commission also adopted a resolution canceling the July 11 meeting so Commissioners may attend the NACo Annual Conference.
All resolutions and agreements on the consent/regular agenda were passed by unanimous voice vote; the minutes record no roll-call tallies or dissenting statements.
