Gladwin council approves warrants, housing appointment, MDOT airport grant and police promotion

The Gladwin City Council on Sept. 2 approved several routine and personnel items, including warrants totaling $75,551.24, an appointment to a county housing commission, acceptance of an MDOT airport block grant and the promotion of a police officer to chief.
Council Member Gutierrez moved to approve the minutes of Aug. 18, 2025 with corrections; Council Member Caffrey seconded and the motion carried with all ayes. The council then approved warrants dated Aug. 19–Sept. 2, 2025 in the amount of $75,551.24 after a motion to approve; the motion passed with all ayes.
Mayor Sarah Kile appointed Josh Pahl to the Gladwin County Housing Commission. Council Member Gutierrez moved to approve the appointment, supported by Council Member Caffrey; the motion carried with all ayes.
Mike Hargrave presented a contract tied to the MDOT Airport Project Block Grant No. 2025–2026 for a weather station. Council Member Caffrey moved to approve the grant agreement and the motion carried unanimously.
City Manager Hines described the interview process for the chief of police position and recommended Officer Binger for the role. Council Member Caffrey moved and Council Member Darlington supported the promotion; the council approved the appointment with all ayes.
All formal votes recorded in the meeting transcript were announced as "All ayes. Motion carried." The council adjourned at 6:06 p.m.
