Planning staff consolidates ordinances; council hears updates on parks, seal and holiday events

Plymouth planning staff and other town representatives provided a series of administrative updates at the Dec. 9 meeting.
Diana Udy, who handles planning and zoning, said she has reviewed and combined the town's ordinances and resolutions and is working to resolve items that were approved but lack signatures so the code is current.
Merideth Nielsen presented a proposed town seal that council members approved after a small modification. Nielsen also reported a funding check from Heritage for streetlights and noted the rodeo organizer Roughstock cannot do the July 4 event; staff will check availability for July 3 or find an alternative band.
Jess Marshall reviewed parks operations and said she will meet with the incoming council member to train them on park procedures; Marshall and a colleague named Chris were thanked for their work.
Events planner Jarrie Buxton announced that Santa will appear from 6 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 19 and that a New Year's party is planned for Dec. 31. In public comment a resident supported the idea of electronic payments and raised that the meeting flag is unlit; council discussed options including solar, hard-wiring, or adding an LED to a streetlight.
Mayor Wendy Barker said she will work with Brent Berry to resolve an access-road dispute involving a locked gate and a trench that currently blocks access between two properties.
