Merideth Nielsen, a town staff member, presented the website proposal, saying the domain would require a $500 setup fee and about $737 per year for maintenance. Nielsen told the council the site could host event information, bill payments and an alert system and said she would research what other towns use and the associated pricing.
The council also discussed online bill-payment platforms. Nielsen reviewed a proposal for Express Bill Pay that she said would cost $1,000 to set up, $500 for staff training and $129 per month; she listed a per-transaction fee of $1.15 for card payments and $2.00 for electronic checks. Nielsen said Square was another possible option and that she planned to check with one more municipality before finalizing a vendor.
Mayor Wendy Barker and other council members expressed support for moving forward with the website and for pursuing online payment options, with the council asking Nielsen to return with comparative pricing and implementation details.
The decision to proceed with the domain was made during the meeting; council members asked staff to report back with vendor comparisons and final cost estimates before any contracts are signed.
