Commissioners approve consent items, reappoint MEHRA member and approve budget transfers

At their April 1 meeting the Washington County Board of Commissioners approved a multi-item consent agenda that included the March 5 regular session minutes; RESO 2024-011 (an additional 1/4 cent county sales and use tax); RESO 2024-012 (re-authorizing sale of real property at 521 Monroe St.); RESO 2024-013 (Child Abuse Prevention Month proclamation); RESO 2024-014 (preference on boards/committees); two capital project ordinances (Roper Interconnection Repairs; Asset Inventory and Assessment and Rate Study); and the ESFRLP23 Washington County Assistance Policy and Procurement & Disbursement Policy.
Commissioner Tracey A. Johnson moved to approve the consent agenda as amended; the motion carried unanimously. The board also approved the reappointment of Lunetta Lewis to the MidEast Regional Housing Authority after Ms. Bennett said Lewis had agreed to serve if reappointed.
Finance Officer Missy Dixon reviewed budget transfers and amendments; Commissioners approved budget transfers/amendments #84–98 as presented. Chair Ann C. Keyes congratulated the Roper Volunteer Fire Department on a $725,000 grant and the Plymouth Voluntary Fire Department on a $325,000 grant.
Other administrative items included travel for Clerk Julie J. Bennett to the Clerks Annual Conference and a brief project update on the EMTOC building, which County Manager Potter said is behind schedule and has been reassigned to Assistant County Manager Mr. Squires; Potter said he had not heard back from Weyerhaeuser and mentioned exploring Golden Leaf grant options.
