Charlotte County sends BESS zoning back to Planning Commission to review fire risk, Tier 1 rules and decommissioning

The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Supervisor Derek Toombs and seconded by Supervisor Noah Davis and carried with all supervisors present voting aye. The resolution notes that the Planning Commission previously completed a review and recommended further study of these three issues; the Board referenced Virginia Code § 15.2-2286 and expects a recommendation within 100 days of the next Planning Commission meeting in accordance with Virginia Code § 15.2-2285.
What happens next: the Planning Commission will gather the requested input and prepare a recommendation addressing the three topics; the board’s resolution sets expectations for a timely report back to the Board. No timetable for adoption of ordinance changes was specified during the meeting.
