Two candidates present for Charlotte County District A vacancy; board to appoint after April 9 closed session

Sherry Tharpe introduced herself and outlined her interest in filling the vacant District A seat. Brette Arbogast then presented an introduction and described their interest in the position. Board members followed with a brief question‑and‑answer session covering topics the board sought from each candidate.
County Administrator Daniel N. Witt told the board the selected candidate would be decided after a closed session scheduled for April 9, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. “That candidate will then be appointed and sworn in at the start of the regular meeting that same day,” Witt said.
No formal appointment was made at the March 26 meeting. The presentations and Q&A were part of the board’s public consideration process; the appointment will occur after the announced closed session on April 9.
