The Charlotte County Board of Supervisors on June 11 adopted an ordinance to pay a one-time bonus to eligible county employees and officers, consistent with action taken by the Virginia General Assembly.
Administrator Daniel Witt told the board that the General Assembly approved funding for a one-time bonus equal to 1.5% of an individual’s base salary. The ordinance spells out eligibility: full-time salaried employees on Charlotte County or Department of Social Services payroll on Feb. 25, 2025 who remained employed until July 1, 2025; members of the Electoral Board serving Feb. 25, 2025 and remaining in office until July 1, 2025; and certain locally elected constitutional officers and employees of covered local units.
For full-time employees, the payment will equal 1.5% of base pay as of July 1, 2025; for Electoral Board members it will equal 1.5% of their total Electoral Board earnings for July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025. The ordinance was adopted by roll-call vote recorded in the minutes.
