Laurel Public Works Committee approves minutes, reviews emergency callouts and flags Riverside Park festival for council

The City of Laurel Public Works Committee approved the minutes from its Oct. 20 meeting and reviewed recent emergency callout activity during a brief Nov. 17 session.
Irv Wilke moved to approve the Oct. 20 minutes; Jodi Mackay seconded and the motion carried 5-0. No public input was recorded.
Committee members reviewed an Emergency Call Out Report and an Emergency Overtime Callout List that document multiple water- and sewer-related incidents through mid-November. The materials note an Elm lift station pump had become plugged and list a sequence of callouts and water shutoffs, sewer backups, lift station power-loss events and other incidents recorded earlier in the year.
Committee business also included a notice that a request to rent all of Riverside Park for a three-day music festival at the end of July has been presented to the Park/Tree Board and will be an item before the City Council for consideration.
The committee adjourned at 6:21 p.m.; its next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 15, 2025 in Council Chambers.
