Charlotte County hires Landon Green as new county administrator

The Charlotte County Board of Supervisors voted June 11 to appoint Landon Green as the county’s next administrator, with the contract to take effect July 1, 2025.
Chairman Walter T. Bailey read a press release announcing Green’s appointment; Green introduced himself to the board and attendees and said he looks forward to serving the county. The board approved the employment contract by voice vote and then authorized Chairman Bailey to sign the contract on behalf of the county.
The appointment followed a closed-session process earlier in the meeting under Virginia Code §2.2-3711(A)(1) in which supervisors discussed personnel matters related to the assistant county administrator position. Supervisors later certified by roll call that only matters exempted by the Freedom of Information Act and described in the motion were discussed in the closed meeting.
Administrator Daniel Witt handled procedural matters during the meeting and read the Code of Accessibility prior to public business. The board’s action to approve the contract and authorize signature was unanimous.
The next formal step is the July 1 contract start date; the board did not record further employment terms beyond adoption of the contract and authorization to sign.
