Chairman Jacci Brown and the full board unanimously accepted the low bid for the Dump Road Project after Highway Superintendent Toney Krajewski confirmed that both bids received met bid specifications. Two bids were opened at 9:00 a.m.: Shelco Construction for $542,641 and Simon Contractors for $686,412; the board voted to award the contract to Shelco.
The board also approved vendor contracts and maintenance agreements. Commissioners accepted a proposal from Electronic Systems, Inc. (ESI) to begin bi-annual inspections of the Nutrien building fire alarm equipment at $300 per inspection, and later approved ESI's proposal to install a cellular communicator for alarm monitoring with a $380 installation fee and a $35 monthly monitoring charge. The courthouse HVAC service agreement from Energy Wise Mechanical (EWM, LLC) was approved as a two-year contract at $4,000 annually.
County business included approval of submitted claims across funds and the May 28, 2024 minutes; motions on surplus property were passed to discard specified chairs. The board also approved a price increase request from Pankonin Ag Services, raising the courthouse lawn fertilization fee from $500 to $650 per application beginning in 2024.

The board reviewed the Nebraska Intergovernmental Risk Management Association (NIRMA) renewal and noted the county's contribution for 2024–25 is $115,992, a $6,412 (5.24%) decrease from last year. Commissioners began preliminary budget worksheets and recessed at 9:30 a.m. for the Board of Equalization, reconvening at 9:55 a.m. to continue budget work.
