Parma Heights City Council on Sept. 23 recorded roll-call approvals on several ordinances and resolutions during its second-reading session and subsequent motions.
Key actions included: Resolution No. 2024-75 establishing a temporary moratorium (up to six months) on accepting applications, zoning approvals and permits related to the sale and distribution of vaping/e-cigarette products; Resolution No. 2024-73 revoking a prior temporary moratorium tied to the effective date of State Issue 2 (recreational marijuana); Resolution No. 2024-63 authorizing the administration to execute option years 1 and 2 of the contract with Browning-Ferris Industries of Ohio, Inc. for residential waste collection and recycling services; and Resolution No. 2024-64 authorizing disposal of obsolete city vehicles and equipment via GovPlanet/IronPlanet (the council suspended the rules and passed this resolution). Several ordinances related to medical marijuana operations and dispensaries (Ordinances 2024-49, 2024-50, 2024-51) and other code amendments were read by title as second readings with amended language accepted by roll call.
Where roll-call votes were recorded, Clerk Allen read lists of 'Aye' votes from council members present; Councilman Haase was excused. The administration and relevant departments were directed to complete next steps such as executing contract option documents and coordinating implementation tasks.
