Parma Heights Council elects Maruschak as President Pro-Tem after Haase resignation

The short meeting began when Council President Rounds said the session was necessary because Councilman Haase will resign at the end of the month and the council needed to elect someone to finish the final year of that term. Clerk Barbara Allen called the roll and then asked each member to state the name they wished to serve as President Pro-Tem.
Council members DeSouza, Kolezynski, Haase, Durichko, Palmisano, Maruschak and Rounds each named Maruschak. Council President Rounds then announced: "Councilwoman Maruschak has been elected President Pro-Tem for the last year of this term." The transcript records unanimous support in the roll-call nominations.
After the election, Councilwoman DeSouza moved to adjourn the special meeting; Councilwoman Palmisano seconded. Clerk Allen recorded ayes from DeSouza, Kolezynski, Maruschak, Haase, Durichko, Palmisano and Rounds, and the meeting was adjourned at 5:06 p.m.
The special meeting record notes only the leadership change and adjournment. Haase's resignation takes effect Dec. 31, 2024, and Maruschak will serve the remainder of the term; no additional motions, votes or debate were recorded.
