Commission approves parking and site‑plan change, swaps 'gross' for 'usable' floor space

On Aug. 3 the Soddy‑Daisy Board approved Ordinance No. 3, an amendment to Article VIII (access control, parking and site plan requirements) of the city zoning ordinance on second and final reading.
City Manager Johnson said Public Works Director Grant made wording changes that were shown in red in the agenda packet. Grant told the board the definition of "gross" floor space was changed to "usable" floor space to refine parking calculations. Commissioner Keith moved to approve; Vice‑Mayor Coleman seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The amendment takes effect per municipal ordinance procedures; staff indicated the change was intended to better align parking requirements with usable building area rather than gross floor area.
