Soddy-Daisy announces Nooga Lights run at Pine Tree State Park, recreation upgrades and school driveway paving request

Johnson said online tickets are $15 per car and $20 per car if purchased at the gate, and warned southbound traffic will need to pass the entrance and turn around because the entrance will be right-in only.
Johnson also said the city is "working toward" installing a 50-foot Christmas tree at Poe's Tavern, though planning is preliminary and no timeline or funding details were provided.
Public Works Director Grant said poles for the Pickle Ball Court lights are in and should be set by the middle of next week; the lights are solar. Johnson said cameras at the north end of town are live and that parking-lot lights and cameras at the Gulf are active.
On school property, Commissioner Shipley said he has sought the School Board’s help for three years to pave the driveway into the Round Gym at the former Soddy-Daisy High School. City Manager Johnson said Hamilton County School Superintendent Roberson is aware of the city's willingness to assist on the portion the city received and estimated the city's share at approximately $20,000; Johnson said he will send an email to the superintendent and that parents have been calling about the need.
Vice-Mayor Coleman and Commissioner Keith also thanked Keep Soddy-Daisy Beautiful volunteers for cleanup work. No formal actions, funding allocations or timelines for the tree or the Round Gym paving were adopted at the Oct. 19 meeting.
