Soddy-Daisy officials say road project is largely complete; TDOT agreement set to expire Nov. 1

City Manager Johnson told the Board of Commissioners on Oct. 19 that the city's road project is "substantially complete" but that crews still need to finish striping, install a few signs and install one piece of guardrail.
Johnson said the city's agreement with the Tennessee Department of Transportation is scheduled to expire on Nov. 1, and Public Works Director Grant told commissioners that the remaining striping will have to be completed with a hand striping machine. Vice-Mayor Coleman and Commissioner Keith praised recent mowing and striping work, including Dayton Pike’s new striping.
Commissioner Shipley raised concerns that the state had not yet cut areas along Highway 27; Johnson said he has requested the work and noted that state Sen. Bo Watson is also attempting to get the areas mowed and overpasses trimmed. No new funding or formal motions related to the project were recorded at the meeting.
City staff indicated the remaining work is short in scope and that crews would complete it as equipment becomes available. The board did not take formal action on the project during the Oct. 19 meeting.
