The Soddy-Daisy Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Resolution No. 5 at its Nov. 16 meeting, adopting a set of revisions to the city personnel policy that City Manager Johnson said reflect recommendations from the Tennessee Municipal League’s Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS).
Johnson told commissioners the city’s personnel policy had last been revised in December 2009 and that past edits had left inconsistencies (for example, personal days were omitted in 2009 but the policy text never was corrected). Among the changes the board adopted were three floating holidays and a recent amendment explicitly addressing first responders. Commissioners discussed whether additional amendments — including possible reinstatement of sick leave — should be considered in the future; Johnson said policies can be amended as the need arises and characterized the update as long overdue.
Vice-Mayor Coleman moved to approve the resolution, Commissioner Keith seconded, and the motion passed with unanimous aye votes.
