Chattahoochee County votes to seek up to $1 million in CDBG funds, pledges $47,500 match

Chattahoochee County commissioners on March 4 approved a resolution authorizing the filing of a Fiscal Year 2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for an amount not to exceed $1,000,000 for a Community Facilities program.
The resolution to file the application was moved by Commissioner Jason Frost and seconded by Commissioner Gerald Douglas; the vote was unanimous. The Board also adopted a separate resolution to obligate $47,500 from county funds to serve as match and leverage if the grant is awarded. That motion likewise passed unanimously.
An attached Letter of Agreement from the River Valley Regional Commission (RC) states the RC will prepare and submit the CDBG application and perform preliminary assessment work; it also notes the local government will defray RC costs associated with preparing the application and lists an application fee of $750 for a new application or $500 for a rewrite. The letter further states that if the application is successful the RC and county will enter a written contract for comprehensive grant implementation and administration services.
The Board directed that the chair execute required application documents and that staff furnish any additional information requested by the Department of Community Affairs as part of the application process.
