Chairman Charles Coffey presided over a Dec. 2, 2025 meeting of the Unified Government of Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners where the board set its 2026 work‑session schedule and approved a slate of administrative items.
The commission voted on the schedule after two competing motions. Commissioner Jason Frost moved to schedule 2026 work sessions at 4:00 p.m.; that motion received the support of Commissioner Damon Hoyte but was opposed by Commissioners Timothy Biddle and Gerald Douglas, and Chairman Coffey cast the deciding vote against the proposal, so the motion failed 2–3. Commissioner Gerald Douglas then moved to keep work sessions at 9:00 a.m.; Commissioner Biddle seconded, Commissioners Frost and Hoyte voted no, and Chairman Coffey again cast the tiebreaking vote — this time in favor — so the 9:00 a.m. calendar carried.
The commission also unanimously approved the county's 2026 employee holiday calendar. Commissioner Timothy Biddle moved for adoption and Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded the measure. County Clerk Lisa Bickel read the holiday list included in the meeting packet.
In other unanimous actions the commission reappointed Thomas Weaver to serve on the Two Rivers Regional Commission for a term ending Dec. 31, 2026, and adopted a resolution to implement new retirement plans for county employees through the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) that will take effect Dec. 1, 2025. Commissioner Biddle moved the reappointment; Commissioner Jason Frost seconded. Commissioner Frost moved the retirement‑plan resolution and Commissioner Biddle seconded.
The board concluded the regular meeting after an executive session called for personnel and legal matters; Chairman Coffey said no votes were taken in closed session and the meeting adjourned at 7:14 p.m.
The schedule decision will change the routine availability of staff and the public for monthly work sessions in 2026; commissioners asked staff to publish the adopted calendar and to include election‑related dates on the board's calendar.
