The Soddy-Daisy Board of Commissioners on Jan. 18 approved an updated Interlocal Cooperation Agreement for the Small City Coalition and authorized a purchase of turnout gear for the fire department.
City Manager Burt Johnson said the agreement, prepared by Red Bank's city attorney and reviewed locally, formalizes the city's 20 percent payment toward an employed representative position currently held by Bridgett Raper and allows the coalition to add or remove member cities and hire a new communications strategist if the current representative resigns. Commissioner Shipley moved to approve the agreement; Vice-Mayor Coleman seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Also on Jan. 18 the commission approved purchasing seven sets of turnout gear from Tennessee Fire Equipment for a total of $22,750. Vice-Mayor Coleman moved the purchase and Commissioner Marcus Keith seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
