Kittitas County commissioners approve consent agenda, set public hearings and contracts

Kittitas County commissioners approved a broad consent agenda at their June 17, 2025, regular meeting, signing proclamations for local athletes, authorizing public hearings, adopting several public-works resolutions and acknowledging contracts and interagency agreements.
The board, chaired by Laura Osiadacz, approved proclamations honoring Colton Magruder and Jalina Blackmore for recent WIAA track-and-field state championships. Vice-Chairman Wright moved to approve the proclamations and Commissioner Wachsmith seconded; both motions carried 3-0.
The board set a public hearing to consider amendments to the Kittitas County Critical Areas Ordinance for July 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Auditorium and authorized the Clerk to publish the notice. The board also set a July 1, 2025, 2:00 p.m. hearing to consider a lease with Paul Hutchinson for hay-cover storage buildings on Goodwin Road.
On public-works matters the commissioners approved Resolution No. 2025-122, authorizing the chairman’s signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus Construction Phase for the Huntzinger Road Safety Improvements Phase 1 project (CRP 3fB-23). The board also approved Resolution No. 2025-123, authorizing an interlocal agreement with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for Springwood Ranch stewardship via a Department of Ecology grant, and Resolution No. 2025-124, authorizing the Public Works Director to sign a task order with Natural Waters LLC to support hydrology and hydraulic design for the Hungry Junction widening project.
The commissioners approved Resolution No. 2025-125 extending a Land Use Cooperative Agreement with Grant County Public Utility District No. 2 for the Vantage Boat Launch from June 1, 2025, through June 1, 2026.
On public-safety and corrections items, the board acknowledged a contract and statement of work with the Bureau of Land Management for law-enforcement services in the amount of $20,000 covering June 16, 2025, through June 15, 2026, and approved an interagency agreement between the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Cle Elum to provide fire-investigation services through May 31, 2030. The board also acknowledged agreements related to the Kittitas County Jail under the 1115 Medicaid Reentry Initiative effective July 1, 2025, including arrangements with Wellpoint Washington Inc., Coordinated Care of Washington Inc., and Community Health of Central Washington to provide reentry services and substance-use-disorder screening.
Administrative items approved or authorized for publication included a Notice for a Statement of Qualifications to identify architectural and engineering firms to perform a space-need analysis and feasibility study for a proposed safety and health facility on county airport property, and a Notice of Request for Proposals for one-tenth of the 1% Mental and Chemical Dependency Tax grant (proposals due July 24, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.). The board approved minutes from prior May and June 2025 meetings and study sessions and carried the consent agenda by voice vote 3-0.
