Kittitas County commissioners approve resolution, three union MOUs and purchase of eight AEDs

Kittitas County Commissioners Laura Osiadacz and Brett Wachsmith met May 27, 2025, and unanimously approved a set of personnel and safety items, including a resolution changing membership rules for the Citizen’s Advisory Committee on Salaries, three memoranda of understanding clarifying when longevity pay begins for county unions, and the purchase of eight automated external defibrillators (AEDs) with an accompanying maintenance agreement.

The Board approved Resolution 2025-105 to modify membership requirements for the Citizen’s Advisory Committee on Salaries for Elected Officials (excluding county commissioners). Commissioner Brett Wachsmith moved to approve the resolution and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz seconded; the motion passed by a 2-0 vote.

HR Director Jeanne Killgore asked the Board to authorize the purchase of eight new AEDs for county facilities and to enter a professional services agreement with Jerrol's for annual inspection and maintenance. The commissioners approved the request unanimously.

Killgore also presented three separate MOUs intended to clarify the longevity rate schedule and define when longevity pay is initiated for three bargaining units: Local 2658 (Appraisers), Local 792CH (Courthouse) and Local 792 (Road). Each MOU was approved after a motion by Commissioner Wachsmith and a second by Commissioner Osiadacz; each vote was recorded as 2-0.

The Board briefly entered executive session at 10:09 AM under RCW 42.30.110(i) to consult with legal counsel about potential litigation. The record notes the session lasted about five minutes and the Board returned to open session at 10:14 AM with no action taken. During 'Other Business' the commissioners reviewed a checklist for evaluating upcoming reclassification requests; no formal action was taken on that item.
