Event Center Director Kady Porterheld told the board that unauthorized parking regularly occurs in the future RV lot and that bus groups sometimes stage there without notifying staff. Porterheld said the livestock sale agreement remains pending; she reported the Friends of the Fair will meet on May 28 and she hopes that meeting will clear the way to sign the agreement. Porterheld said fair worker positions will open sometime in June and noted preventative maintenance is underway across the grounds, focusing on electrical needs and other safety enhancements around the barn.
Commissioner Brett Wachsmith raised the parking concern and noted he knows many high school students likely to apply for fair positions. Porterheld said she had tried to contact the Bowling Alley lessee about a proposed opening-date conflict but had not heard back; Vice-Chairman Cory Wright said he will contact the lessee and reconnect with Porterheld.
