Residents press council to halt town yard construction, raise safety and drainage concerns

At the start of the Aug. 5 meeting several residents used Call to Public to press the Snowflake Town Council on separate neighborhood issues: the siting of a proposed town yard, enforcement of code-required sidewalks, rodeo safety and an unresolved drainage problem.
Angie Daniel said the lot near the LDS temple intended for a town yard is “a terrible location for the town yard,” that homeowners have signed a petition and asked the council to stop construction and place the matter on a future agenda. Gary Fenstermaker asked the council to remember that improvements required in code—sidewalks, curb and gutter—should be enforced; he noted many areas around town have waited more than 20 years for sidewalks.
John Williams said that this year's rodeo ran better with limited ticketing but raised concerns about liability for children who lean over fencing and urged measures to make the event safer. A resident identified as Dan K reported water running through his backyard at 2279 W Heritage Dr. in July 2024; he said the builder has refused to fix the problem and that other lots to the south were also affected.
Council members acknowledged the public comments; at least one resident explicitly asked the council to place the town-yard item on a future agenda. The transcript does not record immediate council action on these comments at the Aug. 5 meeting.
