Mercer County Commission approves 2026 voting plan, land sale, awards motor-grader bid and OKs $301,415 in bills

The Mercer County Commission met Dec. 3 in Stanton and approved a set of administrative and procurement actions including the countys voting plan for 2026, a land sale and a road-equipment contract.
Commissioner Casey Voigt introduced a resolution approving seven precincts and the Beulah Civic Center as a polling location for the 2026 election cycle and authorized the county auditor to establish early-vote and absentee precincts as necessary; Commissioner Jamee Folk seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The commission also approved a 2026 Election Joint Powers Agreement with cities and school districts after a separate motion by Commissioner Rick Bauman, which carried unanimously.
The commission approved an updated purchase agreement with R & R Properties LLP for 0.75 acres at a purchase price of $101,000; Rick Bauman moved to approve the agreement and Casey Voigt seconded. The motion carried with all commissioners voting aye.
After a short recess, Assistant Highway Superintendent Dennis Olheiser recommended awarding the motor-grader bid to RDO Equipment. Commissioner Rick Bauman moved to award the bid to RDO Equipment; Commissioner Mark Pierce seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Commissioner Mark Pierce moved to approve all bills as presented; Jamee Folk seconded and the commission voted to pay the listed vendors. The minutes record payments to multiple vendors and a total of $301,415.09 was approved for payment.
Two personnel-policy items were presented but action on both was postponed until the next meeting. HR/EM Director Alice Grinsteinner presented updated versions of a Holiday Policy and an Inclement Weather and Emergency Closing Policy; motions to postpone further action on both items passed unanimously.
There were no contested roll-call votes recorded in the minutes; all recorded motions were adopted by unanimous voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 9:48 a.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 17, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in the Mercer County Government Center boardroom in Stanton.
