Nelson County Treasurer Angela Hicks announces retirement; names interim deputy

Treasurer Angela Hicks told the Board she will retire effective Aug. 1, 2024 after more than three decades of public service and said she will appoint Deputy Neely Hull as Interim Treasurer until a special election is held.
Angela Hicks, Nelson County Treasurer, announced during public comment May 14 that she will retire effective Aug. 1, 2024 after more than 30 years of public service. Hicks thanked past and present colleagues and the Board, and said she has worked to run her office with "integrity, transparency and accountability" during her 12 years as Treasurer.
Hicks told the Board she will appoint her highest‑ranking deputy, Neely Hull, as Interim Treasurer until the County conducts a special election. She said Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates and the Auditor of Public Accounts will begin turnover auditing work in the Treasurer’s office on July 31 with an anticipated completion in mid‑August.
Chair Parr thanked Hicks for her service and said the Board will work with staff on next steps for the transition.
