The Charlotte County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 12 adopted two resolutions granting banking authorities to the Interim Treasurer and to designated deputies.
Per a resolution citing §58.1-3149 of the Code of Virginia, the board authorized Interim Treasurer Sara E. Crawford—appointed by judges of the Tenth Judicial Circuit effective Oct. 1, 2025—to open and close county accounts, sign checks drawn on Charlotte County accounts, and process wire transfers necessary to manage county revenue. The resolution text states these authorities are granted to enable the treasurer to perform required duties under the Code.
The board also adopted a separate resolution authorizing Deputy Treasurers Terri S. Jones and Charlanna R. Beirne, at the Interim Treasurer’s request, to process checks and wire transfers when needed for efficiency or when the interim treasurer is absent.
Both motions were carried unanimously. The minutes record the appointments and the adoption of both resolutions; the actions are administrative steps to ensure continuity of financial operations pending an election to fill the treasurer vacancy.
