Mayor reports growth at Senior Center, highlights $1M Manorford grant delay

Mayor John Gallo updated the Parma Heights City Council on Feb. 9 about Senior Center activity, labor negotiations and a grant timing change.
Gallo said the Senior Center served or delivered 1,373 meals over the past two weeks and signed up 11 new people for congregate meals in January. He noted the administration is negotiating with the IAFF firefighters and described the talks as progressing well. The mayor also said the city received a $1 million grant for the Manorford project but that work on that project now looks likely to be pushed to 2027 instead of 2026 because of scheduling and capital prioritization.
Recreation Director Sedlak described 2026 registration and sponsorship opportunities and listed upcoming community events, including a Leprechaun Hunt (March 7), Earth Day events and the pool opening on June 13. Service Director Sepik reported no interruption to rubbish pickup over Presidents' Day and said the city's salt supply remains adequate.
No public comments were offered and council held an executive session on personnel matters during the meeting; the session was announced and the body returned to open session later in the agenda.
