Council approves downtown Bike Night closures, soccer-goal purchase and youth sports grant

The Greenville City Council approved a set of recreation and downtown-event items during the April 2 meeting.
Councilperson Lehman moved and Councilperson Johnson seconded approval to close specified parking spaces on the west side of North Lafayette Street for downtown Bike Night from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. each Tuesday evening beginning June 4 through Aug. 27.
Councilperson Johnson moved then Councilperson Moss seconded awarding a bid for soccer goals for the Greenville Area Recreation and Community Center (GARCC) to BSN Sports of Farmers Branch, Texas, for an amount not to exceed $1,818.72; the motion passed unanimously.
Councilperson Moss moved and Councilperson Linton seconded acceptance of a grant from the Greenville Area Youth Advisory Council for youth sports equipment in the amount of $2,825, with authorization for the City Manager to sign on the city’s behalf. Each motion was adopted without objection.
