Greenville City Council approves multiple contracts, schedules three public hearings

The council also authorized awarding the Drainage Structure Adjustment Project to Youngstrom Contracting, Inc. of Ionia for an amount not to exceed $49,900, contingent on Michigan Department of Transportation approval, following a motion by Councilperson Johnson and a second from Councilperson Lehman. The award passed unanimously.
As part of infrastructure approvals tied to the Edgewood Pines development, the council adopted Resolution No. 24‑16, amending the Standard Lighting Contract with Consumers Energy to add a street light at the north end of the Cedarwood Drive cul‑de‑sac. Councilperson Lehman moved the resolution; Councilperson Cunliffe seconded. The roll call showed six ayes (Lehman, Cunliffe, Scoby, Johnson, Barrus and Moss); Councilperson Linton was absent.
On land‑use, the council granted final plat approval for “Edgewood Pines North,” submitted by Green Development Ventures, LLC. The approval was made subject to final acceptance of a performance bond or other financial guarantee by the City Attorney and was based on the Williams & Works staff report dated June 13, 2024.
Council also authorized the City Manager to pursue sponsorship of an existing part‑paid firefighter to enroll in the police academy to become a public safety officer. Councilperson Moss moved the authorization and Councilperson Barrus seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
