Mayor Everett and other commissioners faced a crowded chamber Thursday as residents expressed concern about the effect of a tax increase on seniors and asked the city to consider alternatives to immediate raises. "This Commission has nothing to hide from anyone," Mayor Everett said, defending the process and adding that without federal funds the city would have operated at a $700,000 deficit last year.
