At its June 20 meeting, the Soddy‑Daisy Board of Commissioners approved several routine but administratively significant items.
The commission authorized camping at the city lake from Thursday, July 4 through Sunday, July 7, 2024. Vice‑Mayor Coleman moved to approve the dates; Commissioner Shipley seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Mayor Everett asked to cancel the regular July 4 meeting because of the holiday. Vice‑Mayor Coleman moved to cancel the meeting; Commissioner Penney seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
City Manager Burt Johnson and Police Chief Petty requested approval to purchase PowerDMS, a budgeted software package for managing policies and ongoing training; Petty said the system helps maintain accreditation standards necessary to secure federal funding. Commissioner Keith moved to approve the purchase effective July 1; Commissioner Shipley seconded and the commission voted unanimously to proceed.
Each item passed without recorded opposition. The camping approval includes dates but the commission did not discuss additional operational restrictions at the meeting.
