City to Require Curb at 9218 Dayton Pike; County Utility Work Will Delay Some Road Repairs

City Manager Burt Johnson told the Soddy‑Daisy Commission on Aug. 1 that Public Works Director Steve Grant had spoken with tenants about required curbing in front of the property at 9218 Dayton Pike and that the property owner, Drew Hollenbeck, will be contacted to ensure the approved work is completed. Grant said the City will install a curb in the right‑of‑way and a grassy area between the curb and the parking lot.
Vice‑Mayor Coleman raised concerns about road conditions in the north end caused by Hamilton County WWTA and Northwest Utility District work. Public Works Director Grant said crews have roughly four more weeks on the current scope and will move from School Street to Depot Street; Commission discussion noted the county crews are repairing sewer leaks as part of the work.
Commissioner Keith took a moment to thank Public Works, Police and Fire departments for their response during recent storms; Mayor Everett echoed appreciation for interdepartmental cooperation.
The Board approved the corrected workshop minutes and the July 18 regular meeting minutes as presented earlier in the meeting; no additional formal actions on public‑works projects were taken during the Aug. 1 session.
