Soddy-Daisy approves park lighting, road and maintenance contracts, SRO MOUs and manager agreement

Public Works Director Grant said bids were re-submitted by Talley Construction and Hedgecoth Construction and a new higher bid arrived from Caldwell; the commission approved awarding asphalt work to Talley, Hedgecoth and Caldwell to be used as needed. The concrete bid was re-advertised and the commission approved Twin K.
City Manager Burt Johnson requested annual School Resource Officer Memoranda of Understanding for Skillern Elementary and Ivy Academy; he said the state requires the MOU to receive SRO grant funding and that the grant provides $75,000 per school. The commission approved both MOUs unanimously.
Fire Chief Dusty Morgan requested approval of an apparatus maintenance agreement with Tri‑Star for $17,534.37; he said Tri‑Star will perform maintenance at the city's facilities and is thorough in their work. The commission approved the agreement. Chief Morgan also announced a donated fill station from TVA and asked the board to approve a donation waiver; City Attorney Elliott said the public benefit outweighs liability and the waiver was approved.
Mayor Everett said the board approved an updated employment agreement for City Manager Burt Johnson, noting Johnson's long service and the cost savings from his multi-role work for the city. All procurement and agreement actions passed by voice vote (ayes unanimous).
