Council pursues fountain repairs, message-board improvements; public commenter thanks town representatives

Councilman Daniel Berlin said on Jan. 20 that he and Deputy Mayor Kevin Brown are collecting information and cost proposals for plumbing repairs and restoration options for the town fountain at the center of Port Deposit. Berlin said council will decide between pursuing a historic restoration or a contemporary update after cost estimates are received.
Berlin also asked that the blank side of the town message board be painted by a local artist and recommended adding signage to make the board more visible from both directions. Public Works and Code Administrator Dan Jamison said he would remove unused white poles adjacent to the message board to improve the appearance of the area.
During public comment, Erica Berge of Community Connecting Us thanked Town Administrator Vicky Rinkerman and Councilwoman Randa Thiele for representing the Town of Port Deposit at Cecil Day and Night in Annapolis. The minutes record no new motions under New Business.
Deputy Mayor Kevin Brown adjourned the meeting at 7:31 p.m.
