The Allegan Public Schools Board of Education on Jan. 26 approved three vendor contracts totaling $1,978,460.06 for furniture and office furnishings. The approvals came during the district’s workshop meeting at the Administration Office in Allegan.
Vicki Knuckles, a member of the board, moved to approve a $404,657.13 contract with Great Lakes Furniture; Amanda Nash supported the motion. Knuckles then moved to approve a $1,064,716.77 contract with Custer, and a separate $509,086.16 contract with Michigan Office Environments; Nash supported both motions. Each contract passed by recorded votes of Ayes 4, Nays 0, with Drew Isola, Mary Kasprzyk and Katherine Lake recorded as absent.
The approvals followed a failed procedural motion earlier in the meeting: a motion to approve minutes from the Jan. 12 organizational meeting (motion 25/26-074) was not carried (Ayes 3, Abstain: Knuckles). The board opened the meeting to public participation; no citizens spoke.
The contracts were presented as part of routine business during the workshop; the minutes list the contract amounts and vendors but do not specify funding sources, delivery schedules, or contract terms beyond the amounts. The board record shows the motions as 25/26-075 (Great Lakes Furniture), 25/26-076 (Custer) and 25/26-077 (Michigan Office Environments).
The board adjourned at 7:57 p.m.
