Toni Sprenkle, president of the Port Deposit Chamber of Commerce, told the Town Council at its Jan. 20 work session that the Chamber plans to hold the Fire and Ice Festival on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. She said all required permits are in place and 31 vendors have confirmed participation.
Sprenkle said the event footprint will expand beyond Main Street after noon to include the Post Office parking lot and the vacant lot at 10 South Main Street. The Chamber is finalizing a site map, setup sequence and event signage and will provide those details to the town when available.
The Chamber requested limited town support in the form of loaned equipment; Sprenkle listed a snow machine, heaters, lighting and a photo booth among the items the Chamber hopes to borrow. Council members agreed to provide a $350 donation to help with event expenses and lot rental costs. The minutes record council agreement but do not list a mover, seconder or a roll-call tally.
Sprenkle said the Chamber will submit an updated certificate of insurance prior to the event. The festival is listed as part of the Cecil County Tourism Winter Lights, Cecil Nights campaign; additional operational details will be provided by the Chamber when they finalize the site plan.
