Chairman Laura Osiadacz opened the meeting at 9:00 a.m. and outlined the purpose: starting a feasibility study that will examine the potential for the site’s reuse and regional partnerships. She thanked project partners and "expressed her excitement for the future and our community's economic resilience," according to the meeting minutes.
CWU President Jim Wohlpart gave opening remarks stressing growth, innovation and regional collaboration as central goals for the study. Delano Palmer, CWU’s director of capital planning and projects, provided a brief history of the Old Heat site and described how the site's energy-related past will inform redevelopment considerations.
Consultant Joe Poire of JRP Integrated Solutions presented an overview of the project scope and discussed adaptive-reuse strategies for converting the existing facility for technology and educational use. Meeting notes state that approximately 50 members of the public attended.
No formal motions or votes were recorded in the minutes. The meeting concluded at 9:22 a.m. The minutes name Mandy Buchholz as office administrator for the commissioners and list Vice-Chairman Cory Wright and Commissioner Brett Wachsmith as present.
