KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. — The Kittitas County Board of Commissioners on April 28 approved Change Order 11 to assign Jacobs Engineering to provide project management for the county's new lower Transfer Station after the resignation of the project manager.
Patti Stacey, the county's facilities director, told the board that Project Manager Casey McFarlane had resigned and that about six to nine months remained on the transfer-station project. "Jacobs has put forward an offer to handle the project management of the project," Stacey said in the meeting minutes, and she told commissioners she did not have the bandwidth to take the assignment on while overseeing other county projects. Commissioner Brett Wachsmith moved to approve and authorize the chair to sign Change Order 11; Chairman Laura Osiadacz seconded. The motion carried 2-0.
The change-order approval authorizes Jacobs Engineering to assume the project-management responsibilities for the new lower County Transfer Station. The minutes do not specify contract value, scope changes beyond project management, or whether the company will be paid under a new or amended contract; those details were not specified in the meeting record.
Earlier in the meeting the board recessed into an executive session under RCW 42.30.110(9) to evaluate an applicant or review an employee's performance and cited RCW 42.30.140(4) regarding public discussion of salary practices. Julie Kjorsvik, clerk of the board, asked whether the commissioners wanted brief weekly Wellness and EIC updates; the commissioners agreed to receive informal weekly updates under other business. The meeting concluded at 9:55 a.m.
