At its Feb. 17 meeting the Boone County Board of Commissioners addressed facilities procurement and personnel matters, and reset a key road-planning public hearing.
Rod Nelson, courthouse maintenance, reviewed received quotes for a new generator; one quote had lapsed and questions remained about another, so the board voted to table the generator-quote decision until updated quotes are provided. The motion to table was approved unanimously.
Separately, elected officials and commissioners conferred with Jordan Arndt of Zelle HR Solutions (by phone) on changes in the newly adopted 2026 employee handbook, including provisions on exempt employees, maximum compensatory time, vacation rollover and funeral leave; no formal action was taken on handbook changes during the meeting.
Because of upcoming retirements in the Road Department, the board authorized advertising for open road positions for two weeks in the Albion News/Petersburg Press, Antelope County News and Cedar Valley News once the recruitment ad is prepared by Zelle HR Solutions. The board also approved Resolution 2026-05 to re-set the public hearing on the county’s One and Six Year Road Improvement Program to 10:00 A.M. on March 16, 2026 due to publication issues.
The board recorded votes for the motions and left several items (generator quotes and handbook specifics) for follow-up work by staff and HR consultants.
