Fulton County approves HR manual change and reclassifies veterans affairs director as full-time

Commissioners on Nov. 25 accepted a proposal from HR Administrator Mary Huston to amend the county HR Manual under Section 212, "Employee Benefits," and asked Huston to return the finalized language for official adoption at a later date. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to accept the proposal; the motion passed unanimously.
Separately, the board approved a personnel classification for Veteran Affairs Director Richard Newman. Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to allow Newman to work the equivalent of 30 hours per week, which the board recorded as qualifying him as a full-time employee eligible for benefits. The change was tied explicitly to additional duties assigned by the state related to the Disabled Veterans Real Estate Tax Exemption.
County officials said the HR manual amendments will be brought back to the board for formal adoption in a future meeting. The personnel classification for the Veteran Affairs director took effect upon the board’s vote at the Nov. 25 session.
